Effective January 1st, 2005, IATA has adjusted the regulations regarding the shipment of Lithium Batteries. All Lithium batteries, regardless of quanitity of Lithium per cell, must be shipped via ground transport or nor-passenger aircraft only. PRIMARY LITHIUM BATTERIES FORBIDDEN FOR TRANSPORT ABOARD PASSENGER AIRCRAFT and may be transported aboard cargo-only aircraft.

All shipments regardless of mode of transportation must be shipped by personnel trained and certified as per IATA regulations (see IATA regulatory manual). Anyone shipping batteries outside of these guidelines is subject to fines up to thrity-two thousand ($32,000.00) dollars per violation.

Unless you have a certified dangerous goods and hazardous materials shipper on staff, do not attempt to ship any equipment containing lithium batteries. Remove all batteries prior to shipping. Please be advised that all Electronic Memory Recorders, Surface boxes and shut-in tools operate on Lithium batteries. This not only pertains to AKS products but all other manufacturers products as well.
